Background
Paris is already one of the most congested cities in the world. It occurred to Wunderman Thompson that after the pandemic lockdown, the streets would be even more clogged with Parisians using their own cars to avoid public transport.
For the medical services, this could be disastrous.
Idea
Emergency Bikes was a timely collaboration between Wunderman Thompson and manufacturer Ecox to create the world’s first electric bike designed specifically for doctors. Each bike had a large insulated box for carrying medicines, anti-puncture tyres, a GPS tracker and a USB connection to connect any device.
Designed in collaboration with bike manufacturer Urban Arrow and UMP doctors, the bikes were deployed for the first time on September 3rd. They enable doctors to cross Paris faster than any other vehicle, reaching every medical intervention site two times faster, on average.
Our Thoughts
If you ever wanted to know how agencies are evolving in these challenging times, here you have it. Not an advert or a campaign in social or digital but an e-bike. For Ecox, the benefits of being associated with the health services, whom everyone loves, are clear. The bikes will only become increasingly useful (and visible) on the streets after lockdown because, of course, afraid to use public transport Parisiens will take to their cars.
