Background

The Crescent Theatre is a small, long-established theatre in the heart of Birmingham. Box office sales had trailed off since the theatre was closed for a recent refurbishment. Rees Bradley Hepburn’s task was to remind theatre goers about the Crescent and get them to consider it along with, or before, the other major theatres in the city.

Idea

Their strategy focused on making people feel that they were part of a theatre performance - reminding them of the intimate, engaging experience of watching a play at the Crescent. So they sent them a mailing in the form of a one-page theatre script, with a teaser on the envelope to set the scene.
