Background

With streaming service Spotify on your mobile phone you can enjoy all your favorite music on the go. And mobile carrier Base offers Spotify cheaper. The task was to communicate this to music lovers on the place they all gather: dance festivals.

Idea

The PartyDrone was created: a hexacopter carrying a lightweight carbon with an amplifier, 3 speakers producing 450 Watt, accompanied by a lightshow of LEDs and moving heads. The PartyDrone was equipped with Spotify and could accompany people while playing their favorite music.

How it works: When someone registered for festival tickets, they were asked to add their favorite song to the dedicated playlist on Spotify. When they came to collect their tickets, it was possible to connect the right person to the right song. As they made their way from the ticket booth to the festival entrance, the PartyDrone followed them with the very song they selected earlier.

Results

On the festivals, a select number of people had a unique Spotify – experience. But the campaign travelled much wider than that. Numerous marketing, technology and music websites and blogs, both national and international, covered the story.
