Background

The project was an opportunity to use AI technology to help find a solution to a real world challenge experienced by the blind.

Idea

HUAWEI Facing Emotions- An app that helps the blind and visually impaired 'see' emotions through the power of sound. Facing Emotions utilises the Huawei Mate20 Pro’s powerful AI and camera to translate 7 key facial emotions into 7 unique sounds. Making it possible for the blind and visually impaired to have a richer experience when speaking face to face with others.

Results

The app was released globally on the Google play store in 21 languages to be used by the blind and visually impaired community. The campaign was picked up in international media, including European news programs.
